NTDC Rural Development Programme (RDP) team exhibited at the Energy in Agriculture 2019 at Gurteen College on the 20th August. This is the 4th year of the hugely successful event.
NTDC were there to provide information and advice to attendees on potential community and private energy projects.
Grant Aid is still available under the energy measure of the Rural Development Programme for a limited time so we would encourage you to contact us ASAP to avoid disappointment if you have an energy project to progress.
There was a great buzz at Gurteen and community energy projects were the hot topic of the day at our stand. Attendees where eager to find out how parish based groups can come together to move away from fossil fuel use and look at options for saving and even producing energy locally. Sean Kelly MEP discussed a number of advancements nationally around individual and community based microgeneration that will enable small scale production and selling of energy back to the grid, a huge change that will bring Ireland in line with our European neighbours. These changes will have a positive impact on the renewable energy landscape in Ireland and we are hoping they will encourage a flourish of community based energy projects across the country. Well done to SEAI, Tipperary Energy Agency, Tipperary Co Co and Gurteen College along with all the other sponsors on an informative and engaging event in 2019.
