The finals of the Irish Local Development Network (ILDN) Enterprise Awards took place in Tullamore on May 16th last. Minister for Employment Affairs & Social Protection, Regina Doherty TD, presented the awards on the night. The overall winner was Margaret O’Connor for her new collection of headwear – Cloud Nine.
The ILDN awards bring together nominees who have started their own businesses via the Back to Work Enterprise Allowance with the assistance of the 49 Local Development Companies from across the country.
Most of the finalists were made redundant or lost their jobs but are now back working as a result of support received from local development companies, the Back to Work Enterprise Allowance (BTWEA) and Short Term Enterprise Allowance scheme (STEA).
