Environment & Energy pillar supports projects generated by community groups, social enterprise or private enterprise under the Rural Environment Theme of our Rural Development Programme 2014-2020. This theme is a key focus for national government and NTDC are concentrated on backing promoters interested in availing of funding for projects centred on protecting Water Resources and Local Biodiversity or developing renewable energy projects.
Reducing Tipperary’s CO2 emissions and improving the quality of our natural environment is at the heart of this pillar.
Collaboration work is key for NTDC in working on Energy Efficient Projects. Our Partnership projects with Tipperary Energy Agency include:
- Better Energy Communities (BEC) which is a Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI) Energy Efficiency Grant Scheme applied for by Tipperary Energy Agency in partnership with NTDC. Examples of the measures which are eligible for grant aid under the BEC Programme include; Insulation Upgrades, Lighting Upgrades, Renewable Energy, Heating Upgrades (incl wood boilers or heat pumps), Window/door upgrades, Motor/compressor replacements (process), Ventilation and refrigeration.
- Subsidised District Heating Feasibility Studies – In conjunction with TEA communites in North Tipperary the chance to get a District Heating Feasibility Study worth €5,000 carried out on their community for only €750. The energy audit will determine potential energy saving opportunities which could be made in the building.
- Subsidised Energy Audit- In conjunction with TEA community groups in North Tipperary can avail of grant funding to get an energy audit worth €1,500 carried out on their community building for only €500. The energy audit will determine potential energy saving opportunities which could be made in the building.
NTDC also work with Energy Communities Tipperary Co-Operative, which is a Community Led Organisation, which provides grant funding on home insulation upgrades and retrofitting. NTDC provide financial management and company secretarial supports to Energy Communities Tipperary Co-Operative.
